Time Doesn't Change Caloric Value
Oct 26, 2022Do you want to know something crazy?
Something that a lot of fitness influencers and diet plan promoters would shudder at?
Here it goes…
A peanut butter sandwich at 2pm is the same peanut butter sandwich at 9pm.
*Insert audible gasp here*
Contrary to popular diet culture belief, it doesn’t matter AT ALL what time you eat. Early morning, mid-day, late night, it does not matter.
Instead, look at your overall calories or macros throughout the course of a 24-hour period.
Eating after dark does not change the caloric value. Food is food.
Worried about carbs? Try this:
- Eat at least 25% of your planned carbs just before your workout.
- Eat another 25% of your planned carbs right after your workout.
You’re most insulin sensitive around high-quality physical activity, so eating carbs (which can turn into excess sugar) around your workout can help you burn it faster, so it does not have the chance to turn into sugar.
In other words, your body will use it rather than storing it!
But even then, eat the food. Whenever you like!
Listen to your body’s hunger cues and follow them.
Plan your meals and snacks as best you can and then enjoy…day or night!
Fun fact: I lost 150lbs safely and have kept it off for 15 years. And I still eat tacos while watching Netflix in bed after dark.
Macros and macros. And macros work!
