1200 calories diets are OUT!
Mar 24, 2022A majority of the diets you see online focus on a goal of 1200 calories a day (ew)
It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much you exercise, the quality of your rest, or the condition of your hormones.
1200 calories for everyone *said in my Oprah voice*.
I don’t believe in 1200 calorie diets. They are extremely unhealthy and they often keep you from making real, lasting progress.
Here’s why…
Your body needs more than 1200 calories in a day to survive and thrive.
When all your body gets is 1200 calories, these things happen…
- Plateaus. Big ones. Long ones. Annoying ones.
- Metabolic damage. That makes it slower. Much slower.
- Failure. And feeling like a failure. Even though you’re NOT!·
- Hanger. Frustration. Fatigue. Irritability.
The thing about 1200 calorie diets is that they’re usually entirely too low for most people. They are typically super cookie cutter (eat this, this, this, and never ever that, that, or that). And they are not custom to your specific health needs, exercise level, or goals.
What we’re not going to do is waste time, damage our hormones, spend hours in the gym, or cut out foods that we love.
What we ARE going to do is hire a coach. A good coach. A coach who treats you like an individual human being, not just another number on their roster.
You need a customized plan. Period.
That plan will be based on who you are, the lifestyle you lead, and the goals you have in mind. And it’ll undoubtedly be well over 1200 calories each day.
