Fat Whoosh

Most women quit their diet too soon. Sometimes they make it 7 days, some 10, some even 14 or 21 days and then they quit.

 

They quit before the FAT WHOOSH.

 

What’s a fat whoosh?

 

A fat whoosh is a phenomenon that happens when your body loses fat, the fat cells shrink down and are temporarily filled with water before actually flattening. During this time, your weight can be the same or even (yikes!) higher, even though you have lost fat.

 

It might look like nothing is happening, or that you’ve hit a plateau, or that the diet isn’t working. And this is precisely when many women throw in the towel.

 

In fact, the body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do and once the fat whoosh happens you’ll be surprised to see a 2-5lb drop on the scale, seemingly overnight.

 

The scale just needs a bit of time to catch up with you, that’s all.

 

Here’s how it works:

  1. Your caloric deficit starts, and your body begins to lose fat. The fat cells start to want to shrink, but the body doesn’t want to give them up yet.
  2. Next, the body sends water to fill in the empty spaces in the cell. This keeps the cells ‘full’ and the body feeling happy and normal.
  3. So long as you stick with the program, the cells will continue to lose fat and retain water. Which can do one of two things 1) leave your scale weight the same or 2) make the scale move up.

 

This is when most people quit. But not you, you know better!

 

If you don’t quit, here’s what will happen:

  1. As the fat in the cell decreases, the water in the cell increases.
  2. Finally, the cell is filled but it’s not filled with what the body actually wants so eventually the body will just give up.
  3. The body naturally releases the water from the cells which will now flatten out, leaving you looking and feeling leaner. This will also likely result in a 2-5 pound drop on the scale. Overnight!

 

It’s all about holding out longer than your body. You’ve got total control and you CAN win this silly battle of the wills.

 

So, stick with it. Nutrition is a science and if you follow the science and embrace the journey you will see results.
