Metabolism and your age
Aug 10, 2023Your metabolism isn’t broken.
Read that again.
YOUR METABOLISM IS NOT BROKEN.
The truth is, our metabolisms don’t actually begin to slow down until we’re in our 60s. So, if you’re not yet 60, it’s not your metabolism.
Hard truth: You may be resting on this *untrue* rumor and throwing in the towel.
Yea, it’s a LOT easier to blame a broken metabolism for your excess belly fat and low motivation than to take responsibility; because after 35, most women tend to slow down, do less intentional movement, and drink more wine than they ideally *should*.
And, of course, there are outliers. There are also underlying conditions and plenty of other reasons why your scale may be giving you the side-eye.
But for most of us, it’s our own decisions that keep us from being in our best health.
So, since it’s not your metabolism, what is it? What can you do right now?
Try this…
- Eat more protein: Results in higher metabolism, helps maintain muscle, and burns more calories all day long
- Get better rest: Let your hormones reset each night…more is not better
- Pick up the weights: Muscle is metabolic tissue…we can eat more and burn more when we replace fat with muscle
You do NOT have to subscribe to the idea that now that you’re ‘older’ you can’t have a bangin’ body you love.
Being in your best health is 100% possible, especially when you have a plan that meets at the intersection of the body you have and the body you want.
