What happens when you start even when you’re not ready?

We often think we can’t start something “until”…

Until we have a lighter schedule

Until we have more money

Until we buy that air fryer

Until the kids are older

We give ourselves a milly-and-one excuses for not getting started.

But guess what?

You may never ‘be ready’ and all that time spent waiting for ready goes to waste.

Think of it this way…

Nicole thinks she’s not ready. It’s summer, the kids are home, she’s got a few trips planned, and she really doesn’t have time to get in the gym regularly. She sees a group coaching program open up and while she knows she should join; she doesn’t think she’s ready. So, she tells herself, “Next time!” When it reopens in November. When the holidays are right around the corner. Wonder if she’ll feel ready then, hmmm? 

Tiffany doesn’t feel ready, either. Like Nicole, Tiffany has an over-full schedule managing summer camp, girl scout troop leading, and a husband who works long hours driving a truck. She has similar challenges as Nicole, but she says f’ck it and signs up for the same exact group coaching program that Nicole put off until next time. 

Even though Tiffany missed a few workouts here and there and occasionally had to grab a snack out of the vending machine because she forgot to prep her lunch, overall, she was able to maintain a 70-80% adherence level and by the time November rolled around, she had lost more weight!

Beyond her incredible weight loss, Tiffany felt so proud of herself for managing her schedule and prioritizing herself too. She now has proof for her brain that she CAN do hard things and has a brand-new pair of skinny jeans to back it up. 

Poor Nicole is still waiting for her ready. Wonder how long she’ll be waiting if she doesn’t change her mindset?

See, the thing about “waiting to be ready” is you very well may never be 100% ready. Sometimes you just have to start before you’re ready.
