Where does the fat go?!

Ever wondered, “Where does the fat go when I lose weight?”

A lot of us want to lose weight, reduce fat more specifically, but most of us have zero clue where it goes.

I wondered the same thing myself.

Sitting here, having lost over 150lbs wondering, where did it ALL go?!?

I was down pounds, inches, and my body composition had changed significantly but how?

Well, in a healthy person, fat is converted into two things:

  1. Carbon Dioxide
  2. Water

You either breathe it out (through your lungs as you exhale) or it mixes into your circulation and exits via sweat or urine.

Crazy, right?

And get this, according to a recent study by the University of South Wales, if you lose 10lbs, exactly 8.4lbs is lost through exhaled CO2 and the rest via urine.

So essentially, MOST of the fat you lose is lost via breathing!

If you’re like me when I first found this out, you’re thinking, “Eve, so all you gotta do is breathe more?!?”

My answer?

Kind of.

See, just ‘breathing more at a faster pace’ won’t do the trick. That’s hyperventilating and will only cause dizziness and the potential for fainting. No good.

Want to know when you do some of your ‘best breathing’?

When you’re…

  1. Moving
  2. Sleeping

That means, More Sleep + More Movement = More Fat Loss

But I know we’ve talked about that already. Many, many times. Am I right?

So, there’s the answer to the eternal question, “Where does the fat go?” It goes into the air as exhaled carbon dioxide and into your circulation and is eliminated as sweat and urine.

The body’s pretty amazing isn’t it?!

Tell me, is this news to you too? Where did you think the fat went?
